Description

Breed: Drents Heideschaap

Crafted by hand upon a backing of felted Merino wool, this botanical sheepskin is believed to be among the oldest surviving sheep breeds in Western Europe. For centuries, these hardy sheep wandered the heathlands of Drenthe in the Netherlands, helping maintain the open landscapes of blooming heather that have become iconic in Dutch history. Its flowing locks, measuring approximately 10–12 inches (25–30 cm), fall in soft shades of ivory and cream, revealing delicate silver-grey undertones beneath. Each strand moves freely, preserving the untamed beauty and individuality of this remarkable fleece.

Because the locks have been kept largely in their natural state, gentle shedding may occur and is considered part of their authentic character. This piece is best enjoyed as a decorative accent or in a cherished low-traffic space.
