Salix purpurea ‘Koch Brown’
Salix purpurea ‘Koch Brown’ is a highly productive willow valued for its abundant, flexible rods and attractive light brown stems. It is particularly well suited to basketry, making it a practical choice for basket makers looking for a reliable supply of quality weaving material.
The rods are strong and flexible, with a natural light brown colour that adds a warm, earthy tone to woven work. Regular pruning or coppicing encourages new growth and helps maintain a consistent supply of rods year after year.
Koch Brown is easy to grow and performs well in full sun to part shade. Its combination of productivity, flexibility, and attractive stem colour makes it a useful addition to a basketry willow collection.
