Alternatively, prune one-third to one-half of the oldest stems each spring to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's shape.
• Monitoring: Keep an eye out for pests such as aphids, caterpillars, leaf beetles, Japanese beetle, sawflies, and rust diseases.
